Hi Carolyn

I'm not sure how helpful this will be for you, but if you have iTunes
or VLC open, and you press F8 (or maybe F8 with the function key,
depending on how you have your MacBook set up), iTunes will start
playing whatever media you were last working with. I assume this works
with other media players, as well. Pressing F8 again stops the
playback. It might be something to try, if the other suggestions don't
work for you.
