So I just got off the phone with Apple who verified that they do not
support S-Video/Composite on the latest Mac Mini machines. From various
forums I gather any Mini using the NVDIA 9400m chipset will not work.
There is a substantial thread in various forums talking about using
Minis as media centers as folk bought them to hook up to their TV only
to find the adapter failed to actually work. Nice.

Ok, did not know they changed it. I know this use to not be true. Oh well
you just have to get a old one. Or hook it to your HD LDC TV.

Thanks David. People simply have to stop telling people this.

Not true!!! Please folks stop propagating this myth.
You most definitely need a monitor if you have a mini made after last March.

The answer is yes. Not no. Most people who buy the Mac mini buys the
display
adapter. This makes the Mac mini think the display is hooked to it. Then
acting normal. I don't know why but it is just this way. Just ask anyone
who
has a Mac Mini and they will say you don't have to have a display hooked
to
it but you do need the display adapter hooked to it.

The short answer is no. Why would you not want a monitor connected? You
never know, you might need sighted help.

Hi
Does anyone know if you can trick the new mac minis into thinking a
monitor is connected by using a dvi to video adapter or something like
that?
by newer mac minis I'm talking about minis made within the last three
months.
