I am using the latest versions of OS and IOS on my Mac Mini and my iPhone 7. I have all of the account settings set to move messages into the trash folder for Gmail trash. I have checked the checkbox for delete messages after 30 days. Still they are all in the all mail folder and if I manually delete them or confirm permanently delete, they reappear in a few seconds. When I searched google, I came upon an article that addressed this. It said I had to do something to the trash folder to change its properties. It then gave me an image with text that, of course I couldn’t read. I think this change would have been made on my mac.
