Hi,

There i infact an easyer way.  if your in windows, restart your machine 
and when you hear the chime, hold down the opsion key then select the 
mac partition and you should be good to go.  basicly when you boot your 
machine, just select your partition from target disk mode and that 
should work for you.  HTH.
