Hi all. I don't have my new mac book pro yet. However, I purchased a
second hand white mac book for a student of mine and it came with sl
installed. He has never used a mac before so I'm installing some useful
software for him before he comes for his first lesson.

I Installed adium, skype, stuffit expander, aleria, and a few other
applications with no problem. But, when I try to open the disk image of the
latest version of open office for OS X, it says cannot open disk image.
I've tried googling the issue but didn't get any useful info.

I thought it may have to do with x11 being absent from utilities, but, all
the posts on that refer to panther and tiger, and the link to download it
seems to be broken. But, even if that was the cause, it would cause the
actual install to fail I assume. Not the disk image unpacking process?

Has anyone else had this problem under sl? Is there a solution of some
sort?

Thanks,

Cameron.
