Tim is correct. Once a message, or conversation, is deleted, because it is encrypted, there are no backups or delete folders. So, once deleted, there is no possibility of recovering the message or conversation.
There were enough complaints by people who accidentally deleted messages or conversations that this confirmation has become necessary.
