No, NZ police have access to guns from the boot of 1 car with the lock box, But that is different to cops carrying weapons / guns on them constantly,
Police in NZ can carry guns if it's a call out to a domestic situation And diplomatic protection officers those guys protecting the PM etc do carry -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of David Chittenden Sent: Saturday, 6 October 2018 8:44 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Bait and fix: Apple is basically forcing you to get AppleCare for your new MacBook Pro Actually, Simon, NZ police do carry guns. They are in a lockbox in the boot of the patrol car, and have a secure seal. If the officer gets the weapon out, there is a lot of paperwork which is required. Except in extreme emergencies, the officer is required to obtain dispatch approval before removing the weapon and loading it. Oh, I almost forgot, the weapon is not loaded whilst in the boot, and the bullets are in a seperate sealed compartment. And, the officer is required to fill out seperate forms for each shot fired. Yes, I have a few friends who are police officers in Wellington, and in Auckland.
