Hi, Lots of Googly things behave oddly in Mail. Lot of times Mail seems to bring the entire message together and there's no way to interact deeper to get at the details of a message created by a Google service. The workaround that I've used is to use cmd-a to Select All the content of the message, then open a TextEdit document and paste the contents into the TextEdit document. It will handle the links just fine.
Not ideal, but this has been an issue fsince the release of High Sierra for me and Google created eMail messages. It's just the ones that are auto-created, those sent via gMail by a Google user are fine. Later...
