Hi Mary,

I sympathise with your current situation. I have not yet tried Pages, but I
will. At the moment, I am using a combination of TextEdit and Nisus Writer Pro.

TextEdit: Opens very fast and has support for Office 07 files. It's table
representation is in my opinion awful for totally Blind users like myself, but
then I have never liked tables.

Nisus Writer Pro: I am not sure if it can open Office 07 files, but it can
definitely open 2003 etc. It does take a while to open them though as i think
for some reason it needs to use Roseta to do this. Hopefully, the Nisus
developers will change this in the future. Also, quite a few of the buttons are
not labelled although overall the application seems quite accessible. Also, the
developers are very approachable and open to listening to our concerns and
complaints regarding access with VO. A few years ago, I wrote them regarding an
issue with Nisus Writer Pro and they set to work on it immediately. It has now
been fixed which is great.

Hope this helps
