Amber,

First the Top sites is a fancy name for the most recently visited sites. The 
more sites you visit, the more likely they will fall off the list. Second to 
access a bookmark, I interact with the url in the table and use VO-shift-m to 
bring up the contextual menu. THen you can select the action you wish.  As far 
as the menu bar, you could use a hot spot which is VO-shift-a number 1-9 and 
you can remove this hot spot with the same steps and to go to that hot spot, 
you simply press VO-number where number is 1-9.
