Hello,

You should really try to understand why it is in use. Does it contain some kind 
of macro or link. Can you reopen it and delete it’s content? A dirty way is to 
use terminal. I would rename it so that you can restore if necessary. I don’t 
know how to view trash items from TextEdit but I’m sure you’ll find how to 
restore Trash items from Google.

If you were to open terminal:

cd .Trash
mv I’m\ a\ bad\file Now\ I’m\ good

Notice that a back slash is before every space. You might need one before the 
apostrophe too. Once you start typing the filename you can press the tab key 
and it will automatically complete the filename and extension. You could do the 
same for the new name then use the left arrow key to add v2 or renamed anything 
to change from the original. Then press enter.
