Janina’s recommendation is "spot on;” keep in mind though that the output file
(myfiles.txt in this case) will also appear in the list, if it doesn’t matter
then so be it.

But, if you don’t want myfiles.txt to be listed in itself you might want to use
the line:

    ls -1 >../myfiles.txt

This will create the output file one directory above the current directory you
are creating the list for and will then not appear as one of the names listed
in itself.

So, just for completeness, basic beans on the Terminal are pretty easy.

The hardest thing is often getting to the right place for issuing
commands. Example: If the files you want to create a list of are in your
Documents folder (often called a directory in terminal-speak), you need
to change to that directory like this:

cd Documents

Now you can get a list of all files one per line like this:

ls -1

And, to put that output, i.e. all those filenames in a file one per
line, you just add the redirection symbol and a filename for the output
like this:

ls -1 > myfile.txt

Now the file myfile.txt has that list of filenames one per line. And,
you can access myfiles.txt in any of the usual ways, not just the
terminal.
