Thanks to Nic, Chantel and Anne for their comments on this question but
I still haven't had success. My question deals with web pages and I
have a Mac Book 10.6

When I began working on this, , like Nic says, I could advance through a
web page with just pressing the down arrow but it would completely skip
paragraphs when I did that. Pressing VO and down arrow did nothing
beside sounding a beep. When I used the right or left arrows, it moved
through the text without skipping anything but read a whole paragraph at
a time. When I got to the beginning of a paragraph, I could interact
with the text but I could only go word by word through the paragraph
using VO right/left arrows.  .

Then, as suggested by Anne, I tried using quick nav for the first time
and things got really strange. I understood that pressing the right and
left arrows together will turn it on and off as a toggle. this has not
been the case. Sometimes it toggles and sometimes it doesn't. Should I
hold the keys or should it be a quick simultaneous press? At one point,
it appeared to have turned on and I was, in fact, able to read through a
paragraph a line at a time. Replicating this has not been easy. And
after playing with the quick nav, I can no longer go through the web
page with just the right and left arrows without pressing the VO keys.
I guess I changed something but I don't know what I did.
The tracking is still on.

All suggestions are welcomed.

Linda

Subject: Re: Read line by line

Hi,

Apple made it possible in 10.6 to read by using only the arrow keys on
websites. However, it seems like a really flaky solution, and doesn't
seem to work all of the time.
