Hi,

I don't believe that you'll see network users unless your iMac is bound to a
network server. So, what you really want to do is to connect to the iMac from
the MacBook using a user on the iMac. So, when sitting at the MacBook, you
connect to server, with the name or IP of the iMac, then you enter the user
credentials for an iMac user who has access to that folder. For example, if
the folder is on the Desktop of the Bob user on the iMac, then log in as Bob
when entering credentials from the MacBook. You're not using the user
information from the MacBook to log into the iMac, you should be using the user
information from the iMac to log into the iMac.

I hope that this makes sense.

Hello,
My Family have 2 Macs on the same wifi network both running the latest Mojave.
I have set up a folder on the iMac which I want to share with the MacBook. In
the iMac’s sharing preferences file sharing is enabled and the desired folder
is in the list of shared folders. Following the help info I want to add the
user of the MacBook as an authorised user to Access this shared folder. The
help Tells me that I should see a list of network users from which I can select
the desired user. Alas I cannot see any option to Choose a network user. I can
see Options to choose a different user on the iMac to share the folder.
I have connected the MacBook to the iMac using the connect to server in the
finder go menu. The MacBook can see the iMac under the Network option of the
finder go menu but cannot see any folder on the iMac.
The help for sharing files rather confusingly says do a Control + Click on the
shared folder to choose advanced sharing options. I am not sure whether I need
to do this and if I do how does one do a Control +Click using VO?
Many thanks for any tips.
