Yes, you'll probably need to connect to the modem over an Ethernet cable and use its interface to access the MAC address. Alternatively, you can use the arp -a command from the Mac OS terminal. http://osxdaily.com/2016/11/03/view-lan-device-ip-address-arp/ but this only gives you what you need if the MAC address of the Ethernet port is the same as the MAC address of the modem's interface to the outside (e.g., the one that attaches to the cable from your service provider).
