Good morning, this embedded business, you’re simply indicting a HTML
object into a otherwise plain text document. This is done primarily to
support mime compliant email programs. Almost every email program out
there supports the standard. In case you’re wondering what my means it
means multiple attachment interface? That’s loosely what it means
I’d have to go back and look up the exact technical meaning of the
mime acronym. I vaguely remember this standard because I was a student
at the University of Washington when the standard was first created.
Meaning that the standard was made, and begun to be used my sophomore
year while I was a student at the University of Washington. A long time
ago. Does anybody remember pine? Pine of course was the main email
client used on many UNIX and Linux based systems years. In fact some may
still have lentic systems with pine still running. Pine used IMAP.
Although papain is no longer in use. The IMAP standard of Internet
transport for email messages still is used. By primarily Google and
Apple. I regarded as much better than post office protocol. the acronym
Post Office protocol is shortened to pop. Hopefully this will not be
confused with peak envelope power. Of course that is a measurement of a
transmitters peak power output.
Now that I’ve explained a little email history, the embedding of HTML
links and to email has become extremely ubiquitous over the last few
years. One should however be careful about this if you know the the
entity which sent you the email, and you know that they don’t do
web-based email. Look very carefully at the domain from which the email
came from. That will give you a clue as to whether you might open it or
not. Better yet though use the Internet security software. Many of these
products scan the email before you see it. This is a attempt to weed out
viruses and malware. I’m a firm believer in setting one’s email
client to never open embedded HTML if it looks like it might be an
executable program. But again look at where the URL is going if it is
going to something that you already know is reputable such as the
web-based copy of a bill for instance, that probably is safe for writing
but the entity showing you the bill is reputable. If you don’t
recognize the URL is deleted into a company that you do business with,
and/or is not one from a recognized company. Then it’s best to not
open it and call the company that you’re dealing with to verify that
they indeed had sent you the email.
I hope this lengthy email helps someone out, 73 from kd0iko.
PS now I have to get ready for sign language class. Have a great day
everyone.

Okay,
I notice that when I go in to the body of many e-mails these recent
days, I see “imbeded” a lot. Somebody else asked this a day or so
ago and got no answer. So, what’s with this “imbeded” business
anyhow?
