Older mac minis did require a monitor connection, or you could use an
adapter called the fit headless which emulates a monitor. This is no
longer required however.

Hi,
Something else I read a while ago, that for a Mac mini to work well or
to work at all it had to be plugged into a monitor which is rather
superfluous for most VO users. I seem to remember also reading about
a sort of adaptor, a dongle, which could be used instead of a monitor.
