Split Screen lets you run multiple iPad apps together, side by side.
You’ll know if you’re using it. You can dismiss a split screen pane
when it’s active, and you have to activate the feature whenever you
need it. So unless you’re intentionally using split screen, it’s not
being used. If you want to disable it completely, you can in General
settings. However this is different from multi-pane applications,
like Settings and mail, which drive me nuts. iPads have bigger
screens so the form factor of apps is different. I’m afraid iPad apps
are always multi-pane and there’s no way to turn it off, but I’d love
to be wrong about that.
