Hi,

The foot thing would have nothing to do with the audio. Do you get music if
you try to play from iTunes but just no VO sound, or nothing at all as far as
you can tell. If the latter, while using the headphones, go to System Prefs,
Sound and press the Output tab. Check the devices you have listed there.
Interact with the table of output devices, make sure that the headphones item
is selected, then unplug the headphones. If there's still no sound, press the
up arrow a few times, then press return. If you still get no sound, then it's
possible that something's gone awry with the built-in sound card, but I
wouldn't give up yet.

Next, let's clear the PRAM. Shutdown the Mac. Wait for about 10 seconds, then
get twister fingers ready. You'll need to press down the Command, Option, r
and p keys at the same time. I usually put my left thumb across the cmd and
Option keys then my left index finger on the r and right pinky on the p key.
have thoat combination ready, press the power button, then as the Startup Chime
begins to sound, press those four keys down. Hold them down and continue
holding them down after the chime finishes. Keep holding them down through an
additional three chime sounds, then release all the keys. Let the Mac start up
and see if you get sound now. If not, shut it down again. Plug in the power
cord, hold down the left hand side ctrl, Option and Shift keys, then while
they're down, press the power button and release the power button quickly.
Wait about 10 seconds, then power it up again. If you get sound now, life is
good, if not, then hardware problems may exist.

If you have anyone that can help that is sighted, have them look at all the
levels in that Sound pane when the headphones are not connected. If everything
looks normal, then there may be issues with the sound card itself.

Let me know how it goes.

Later...

Hi all,

I have a late 2013 Macbook Pro running version 10.13.6. A couple of weeks ago I
quit getting any audio out of the speakers. I have tried toggling mute and
pressing the up volume button several times with no change. I'm getting audio
through headphones but that's the only way I can use the computer. About the
same time this happened I noticed that the round plasticky foot on the right
front bottom corner is missing. Does anyone know if this would be related and
if not does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,

Gabe
