I removed the partition and added an APFS volume to the main drive
and installed the beta into it.
I see no obvious differences, still have the "no permission to
read". And something new which I hope I can run down. Sometimes when I
close a Finder window, I hear 'authentication'. I vaguely remember that
from Mojave or maybe High Sierra.
