Hello, I get a bit confused also, (no pun intended). In terms of the internet, when you are transmitting data, such as when talking about speed, it is always in bits rather than bites. As far as the question of why wi-fi is slower than wired, it is nearly always that way. A wired signal always transmits along the wire, and does not weaken until it reaches a certain distance, whereas a wi-fi signal may have to go through walls, be accessed from an angle, experience interference, etc. Also, there are two different kinds of wi-fi signal, 2.4 GHZ, and 5.0 GHZ. The 2.4 will transmit for a longer distance, but will be slower, and the 5.0 will weaken at a shorter distance from the box. I don’t know how much difference it makes if you are using fiber though. I would call the internet service provider and let them know what is happening. It could be the box needs to be moved, a channel needs to be changed, or something needs to be updated. It could also be that the device you are using to access the internet with is simply not built to process one gigabit of speed. Okay okay, the nerd is shutting up now. Hope at least some of this was helpful.
