When you create the new image in the same dialogue box where you give it
a file name you should also be able to choose an image format. I would
guess the best format would be DVD/CD Master. Then use that image to
burn the copy. At least I think that's how I did it last time I copied a
non-commercial DVD.

Hi.
I actually found some instructions online for doing this, but may
have done it incorrectly.
I put the homemade DVD in the computer, quit DVD player, went into the
utilities folder and disk utilities, and was successful at saving the
file as an image file, but it has a CDR extension, and if I understand
this correctly, it needs to have a IMG extension instead
When I burned the new DVD, it would not play, but instead, the folder
structure did appear with all of the files.
Any thoughts or tips on how to do this correctly?
Thanks.

What happens if you make a disk image using Disk Utility and then burn
that image to a blank using disk utility?

Hi to the list.
I wonder if there is a way, using Snow Leopard, or perhaps another
program, to create duplicates of a non-commercial DVD?
I have looked around within the operating system, but have not found
any specific information as to whether this is possible.
Thanks for any suggestions.
