I’m still using Mojave and haven’t upgraded yet. I’m getting pretty
good at changing the voice over rate accept for one section. When I’m
in the messages app and I VO left arrow twice to read the last
message voiceover speaks at about 100% and I can’t work out how to
slow it down. That is the only place where voiceover speaks so fast.
I’ve gone into voiceover Utilities and opened the edit field and
checked all of the voiceover attributes like contents and type and
menu and so on, but I can’t slow it down. I’ve even slowed down using
the VO command shift arrow keys and that doesn’t do it either.
