I don't know if you have been following this. Apparently, my experiences
is not the same as Tim's.
While we can indeed create new genres in the Home Videos area, but, unlike
Tim, I am unable to do this with purchased movies. I can change a genre to one
that already is in the genre table but cannot create a new one. If you are
running Catalina and have your library set up there, try it. Keep in mind, I
did not upgrade but rather, a clean install.

Hmmmm. I had a home video of some black bear cubs playing around that
I changed from a genre I named as "Nature" to a genre I just named as
"Wildlife". After changing it to Wildlife, this genre showed up in
the Genre table that I could change my purchased Avengers, End Game to
Wildlife if I felt like it. I hate it when something works for one
person, but not another.

A workaround is to create the Genre within the Home Videos grouping
of movies. This should now add it to the main grouping that you can
choose from when manipulating the purchased items. You'll need to
modify one of your Home videos, then go into the purchased ones, set
it to the new genre then you should be able to go back to the Home
Videos and change it back to its original genre. There needs to be
at least one item with that genre for it to appear in the list. I
haven't tested this with a lot of videos, but it did work on one.

If a genre does not already exist, I cannot type one in. I do not
recall if I could do this in iTunes but then I did not have to learn
how to work with the new changes. This is where I think Apple could
