There's some process that is causing the fans to engage, we just need to figure out why. Indexing should already be complete, so that's not an option in my opinion. You've checked Activity Monitor for processes that could be taxing the system, so that's less likely, but still not out of the picture. If you have everything backed up, you could do a clean install and run it as a test computer for a couple of hours without bringing any software or data from the backup. if the fans continue to be a problem, then we know that it has nothing to do with your specific installation or data, and more to do with some sort of glitch with Catalina and your hardware. We can go from there if that is the case, otherwise, we can restore your MBA from the backup and see if the problem persists. Later...
