I was recently looking at NZ mobile providers. Two Degrees now offers a purchase plan where they split the cost of the new phone across the life of the contract, and if one adds $10 per month, one can upgrade the phone after 12 months by exchanging the current handset for the new model. Here in Australia, Telstra does this, and they even divide the cost of accessories, such as AirPods, in to the same payment plan across the life of the contract. I go for the two year contract so I can upgrade my phone every 12 months.
