Go to the contact you wish to delete, double-tap it, double-tap the Edit
button, do a four-finger single-tap near the bottom of the screen to
take you directly to the last item, then swipe left a few times to find
the Delete button. Sometimes, you need to swipe left then right, just
in case it doesn't get to the exact bottom.
