Hi, It sounds like File Vault is enabled. When you turn VO on at that point, does the voice sound more mechanical? If this is indeed the case, you just need to type the username in as it appears in the System Prefs. After entering the username, press return, then you should hear the computer say "Password". Enter the password, and it will continue the login process and you should be fine after it finishes the startup procedure.
