Hi Dave,

Yeah that should be fine.

You open terminal, and from utilities is where it hides so should be the same 
as my opening it from spot light.

Then either type in or paste in the full command
“sudo nvram StartupMute=%00
Note that the S & M of StartupMute are upper case and everything else has lower 
case characters.


As for the no password,
Are you sure it’s not asking for the password and just not saying it to you?



It shouldn’t matter but if you have an administrator account on your computer 
try using that if it’s not the one your already using.

Okay, I guess I’m just not doing the right thing in this terminal window.
I run terminal.app from my Applications/Utilities folder
I hear some stuff about my name and the last login.
Is this where I simply paste that text? I’ve done so, and never get a request 
for my password, so I think my problem is right here.
