I tend to avoid word processors altogether. I usually write my documents in
Markdown (for simpler material), or in LaTeX (for more complex texts, such as
papers intended for submission to scholarly journals).

I sometimes review or edit a colleague’s work in a word processor, or use it
for simple documents, but not for serious writing projects.

Text Edit is a nice option but it is pretty basic. I have also experienced
issues with MS Word documents loosing certain types of formatting, such as
numbering and other formatting options that are not supported by Text Edit.

Hi,

I use Pages and TextEdit. I forgot to mention TextEdit before. It can open
and save to Word, although you can't do as fancy of formatting as in Word or
Pages.

Hi Tim and others,

My current computer only version of Microsoft Word application
seems to have some glitches. The longer my documents are the more issues that
seem to crop up. Mostly focus issues.

Pages being an Apple product, I’m hoping would be a better experience, but then
I have the export issues.

Microsoft 365 is unknown to me, but I’ve not found getting the exchange account
a easy process and am concerned I get the product to find it is glitchy.

I’m reassured with the comment that it is accessible.

I’d love to know what word processors Mac-Visionaries are using?

I want to keep my documents simple and having a mix of Dox and Pages isn’t
appealing, however, Pages might be the more reliable package and worth the
extra steps when needed.

Are there any special advantages to Microsoft 365 I might not know about?

So, what is the word processor my fellow Mac users on list rely on?

Hi,

Pages, Keynote and Numbers are all totally accessible. If you plan on sharing
a document created in Pages with someone who is a Microsoft Office user, then
you'll still need to export it to a Word document (.DOCX). Pages is an Apple
product, not a Microsoft product and thus I doubt that this will ever change.
Office 365 is quite accessible on the Mac. Others may be able to give you more
specifics, but it is totally usable now from a VO prospective. Pages is free,
so deciding whether you wish to purchase a subscription to Office 365 vs using
Apple's suite is your call.

Working on getting my Mac in a stronger working order.

I have not updated the operating system as my current Microsoft app is 34 bit
and I don’t have a clue where the registration info is. I purchased my copy
many years ago and had a difficult time getting it installed. I accidentally
selected the 34 bit version.

I understand if I move to the latest Mac operating system it will no longer
work.

So I’m considering Microsoft 365.

What is the word processor of choice these days?

Anyway, I’m wondering if Pages has improved over the years so. That I don’t
need Microsoft work for Mac or Microsoft 365.

What is the current state of Accessability for Microsoft and Pages?

My concern is was of use and ability to share documents as a doc or similar
file.
It was frustrating to have to export in Pages every time I wanted to share a
file with someone.

Still my day to day work is almost all Mac now.

Before purchasing Microsoft 365 I thought I’d check in.
Thoughts and tips appreciated!
