No issue on windows using fat32 unless a file is bigger than 4GB in size,

It has always been that way. Not sure if this is a Mac thing, but I think it is the same on Windows. Your choices are standard FAT, or Extended XFAT. I’d go with XFAT because it will allow for larger file sizes.
