Hi Tim , I tried unchecking and rechecking play other mail sounds as you suggested. If I listen very carefully I do hear the mail sent sound but it is very very quiet. So I went to system preferences and sounds and sound effects which showed a table of built in sound effects. I presumed that I could change the volume for each such sound but that does not seem to happen. So can I change the volume of individual sound effects and if so then how. Also what is the mail sent sound called? Many thanks … Paul Hopewell
