I would think that the device Anders mentions would work only with a Panasonic unit. I would recommend that you look into a WiFi thermostat. There are many models on the market that will work with a variety of manufactures. I have a Honeywell ComfortConnect thermostat. It has an iOS app that is very accessible using VoiceOver. I have had mine for about 6 years. Honeywell has newer models with even more accessibility, including the ability to access the device using Alexa and more.
My HVAC guy recommended the Honeywell unit, so I would suggest you talk to your people and see what they recommend.
