Yes in endnote 19 they changed the way the database is written due to the 
changes in Catalina.

I think from memory it's end note 19.2.1
But then windows version also changed it's database format also and that was a 
slightly different version number.

If you had endnote on your machine before updating to Catalina then endnote 
will have created a backup version of your endnote library in the previous db 
format as well as writing the new db format for your endnote library.

So had to update my version of endnote because had upgraded to Catalina - but 
having checked what I said earlier following update.

If you go to the library list and interact with it and then bring up the 
context menu you have the option to create a group and then you are able to use 
your add process as described.
