I found that there are two camera kits unfortunately I bought the cheaper one first and it does not have enough power to run by drives. However the one for $39 the camera kit three has a female lightning port that you can use to power a device plus charge your eye device and that seems to allow me to connect to most of my hard drives. It looks more like a hub because it’s got the square plastic housing and has a USB a port and a lightning female port. Hope this helps
