Apple Releases macOS Catalina 10.15.5 With Battery Health Management Features,
Fix for Finder

After releasing operating system updates for most of its products last week,
Apple this week pushed out macOS Catalina
10.15.5<https://macrumors.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7d0106b433773bd0aef5828e0&id=5dc3277290&e=821bb7bf59>,
an update that brings a new battery health management feature to recent
notebook models, as well as some other updates and bug fixes.

Not all of the changes are being greeted with applause, however, as there
appears to be a bug related to creating bootable backup
drives<https://macrumors.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7d0106b433773bd0aef5828e0&id=440de578c6&e=821bb7bf59>,

been hearing a lot about Apple's rumored "AirPods Studio" over-ear headphones,
and it looks like they might be coming fairly soon. Recent rumors claimed that
suppliers would begin shipments to Apple in June or July, but a report last
week claimed that production is already
underway<https://macrumors.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7d0106b433773bd0aef5828e0&id=eb6d34b0d8&e=821bb7bf59>.

potentially to assist with biometric measurements for health features.

And finally, Apple's clever "Bounce" commercial for

released last year has taken top honors in this year's ADC advertising awards.
Several other pieces of Apple content won awards as well, including AirPods Pro
ads displayed on Apple retail stores, the opening theme for "The Morning Show"
on Apple TV+, and the "Snowbrawl" iPhone 11 Pro ad.

Twitter leaker @choco_bit has shared that the iPhone 12 will unsurprisingly
continue to feature a Lightning port for
charging<https://macrumors.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7d0106b433773bd0aef5828e0&id=68fb9a59b3&e=821bb7bf59>
rather than transitioning to USB-C, but it's what the leaker has to say about
next year's iPhone that's more interesting.

Apple will reportedly be eliminating the charging port entirely on the 2021
iPhone, shifting to a Smart Connector similar to that seen on recent iPad
models to allow for power and data transfer with accessories like keyboard
cases.

A separate rumor from @choco_bit indicates that the 2021 iPhone could include
four camera lenses in the 40- to 64-megapixel
range<https://macrumors.us5.list-manage.com/track/click?u=7d0106b433773bd0aef5828e0&id=4f47c9d2a1&e=821bb7bf59>,
in addition to a LiDAR sensor for augmented reality purposes. The leaker says
the rumor should be taken with a "huge amount of salt," so we won't put too
much stock in it just yet, but it's an interesting claim that bears watching.

It remains to be seen whether these are ready for launch in the near future,
perhaps at WWDC next month or in September alongside the Apple Watch Series 6.
Alternatively, these could be protoypes that were ultimately scrapped, or even
knockoffs meant to mimic Apple's band style.
