When attempting to choose items to copy or instance, please do the following hold down the shift key then use the up, Down arrow cheese to select the items you wish to move, or copy. I hope this helps? Another command that might be helpful to copy hold the command key down and then press the letter c along with the command key. In order to past the item in the new location, hold the shift key down and press the v key and the items that you selected earlier, well show up in the new location.
