Hello Family,

1.
I installed iPad OS 14 on my 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 tablet.

Several of the new features of iPad OS 14 are not available on this model.
However, the VoiceOver Scene Description feature is available, albeit a
scaled-down version, and was set to on, by default. This feature drove me
crazy because it kept saying something like "triangle or diagonal" almost
all the time when viewing items in a list. It took me what seemed like
forever to find where this feature was located in the OS. I found the
setting under VoiceOver Verbosity. I turned the feature to off but doing so
did not disable the feature until after a restart of the device.

2.
I installed iOS14 on an iPhone 11. Strangely enough, all of the scene
descriptions were set to off, by default.

3.
My primary device is my beloved iPhone 8 Plus. The 8 Plus has been on the
market for quite a while and, as happens to all devices, sooner or later,
installing the latest OS begins to slow down the responsiveness of the
phone. So, I am not going to install iOS14 on my 8 Plus until after hearing
from various people on this list, that doing so will not cause my 8 Plus to
slow down. I am also not going to install 14 on my 8 Plus because I am
planning on purchasing an iPhone 12 when it is released; assuming that it
ships with a Touch ID sensor, as I strongly suspect that it will. If the
iPhone 12 does not include a Touch ID sensor, then I will try to hold out
for another year in hopes that Apple will bring the hardware feature back on
a later model.

4.
Finally, my beloved Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus has an in-display Touch ID
sensor / Home button. I am hoping that Apple will include the same or
similar feature on iPhone 12. However, given the way that they have
implemented the new Touch ID on its latest releases of iPAds, all bets are
off. Just have to wait and see.

5.
I would like to host another Zoom group discussion this Sunday so we can
talk about all of the new Apple software and hardware features and devices.
If I can manage it, I will send out a notice early Sunday morning.

I hope you are all doing well.

Mark
