I run into these types of fields fairly often. I normally do a mouse click on the field and that opens it up for editing. You could also try simply interacting with it before typing. In case you don’t know to do a mouse click first route the mouse to the field with control option command F5, then do the mouse click control option shift spacebar. That should open it up for typing.
