Hi Janet, I got the microwave today and it is set up and working. I pre-positioned a lock dot on the number two with the help of be my eyes in preparation for the set up, and it worked great. You can use the Alexa app to operate the microwave without an Echo Dot or other echo device. Although, it is probably a lot easier with the echo device and the Alexa button. I have an Echo Dot coming in a week or so, but I can use the microwave just fine using the Alexa app until then.
I’ve been using an old clunker of a microwave with only two rotary knobs that I’ve had for 17 years now. I figured it’s going to give out some day soon perhaps, actually will probably last another 10 or 20 years, but the Amazon basics is definitely a good upgrade and I like the voice control. thanks for your article, it made the decision process a lot easier.
