Absolutely, but in my experience, best means the operating system that
runs on the hardware, not the hardware itself.

If you want maximum accessibility, you'd be hard pressed to do better
than Open WRT whose web page is:

http://openwrt.org

Currently, I'm using the Linksys WRT1900AC which comes with pretty awful
software by default, so it may take some sighted assistance to flash the
OpenWRT firmware onto it. But, the flashing task is actually quite
straight forward. And, once accomplished, you've a highly accessible
router/switch/WAP all in one. You can drive it via the web browser of
your choice, or from a command line via ssh from your Mac terminal. Your
choice.

PS: I spent some time last weekend looking at where things have gotten
to vis a vis the next generation of these devices, those which conform
to 802.11AX also branded as wifi6. There are some compelling hardware
choices, but OpenWRT support is still in fairly early development, so
I'm staying away for the forseeable future. But, I expect the day will
come when a device like the Linksys MR9600 or the Netgear Nighthawk MK63
will support OpenWRT. When that day dawns, I'll be a buyer and a
flasher.
