Personally, I prefer keeping it between 40% and 100%. I have heard that keeping 
iPhone batteries between 40-80% is best to keep it as much as possible, but It 
is a very low range. So, I make the iPhone between 40-95% as much as I can. 
Sometimes, I can’t get it exactly, so it won’t matter a lot. It helped in 
keeping my iPhone health above 90% for two years now.

There is no source explaining the same for Mac batteries, but I just do it.
