Fazil,
The file menu changes depending on a system setting.
Please go into:
System Settings General.

About 2/3 down the window is a category called:
when opening documents
The first item in this category is:
Ask to keep changes when closing documents
If this button is not checked, then your Mac will save your document every few
minutes and you will have items under the file menu like:
Duplicate, Rename Move to… and Revert.

In this mode every ten minutes, your document is saved, and if you really mess
up you can go to the revert menu and put it back to what it had been.
The duplicate is just a modification of Save As. Though I can never remember
then if I am editing the new file name or the old one, note that since the Mac
is automatically saving, when you do a duplicate both copies of the file will
have your latest changes. So, if you want to change a file and keep the
original you should do the duplicate command before making any changes.

Now back to that checkbox in system settings…
If you check this box, then command-shift-S will do a traditional save as
instead of a duplicate.
You will probably have to logout or at least quit open applications if you make
this change.
To add a little to the confusion, some applications like Most of Microsoft
Office, do not use the Apple automatic save functionality, so in these
applications, there is no revert ability and even when that checkbox is
unchecked you will find a save as in the file menu.

Hopefully I explained this clearly,
Jonathan Cohn
