Good catch.
The Search box is at the far right of the toolbar, and the command to get there 
after interacting is VO + END.
That’s what happens when I type stuff in a hurry, and don’t proof read.

I agree that VO + F, should go to the Search box, but the original poster said 
that VO + F, was not working for them, so I suggested an alternative method.

Secondly, when in the primary Mail pane, I always find that command-option-F 
gets me to the Mailbox search box. The command-F search functionality is 
usually set up for text string searches, like in mail bodies or word 
processing. When you want to get to the search toolbar in a finder window or 
someplace else that is providing a list of items you are trying to find which 
item contains specific criteria it usually is command-option-F that does this.
