This is an incorrect statement. The spoken content section in System
Preferences is very useful and I can name a few things I use it for.
1. If Voiceover isn't focussed on a system dialog that may have popped up while
I was away, the system voice through Spoken content will say alert from app
name and what the system dialog was about.
2. Some apps may use the system voice to speak their content, meaning they
don't use Voiceover. One example of an app that uses this method is the RS
Games client. If you don't like the default voice it uses which will probably
be Alex if your default language is English, you'll have to change it by going
to System Preferences and use the spoken content section of accessibility. By
the way, to answer the first question that was asked, in a table you don't have
to press VO+Space to select spoken content. You just stop interacting and
everything's there.
