I got curious about the issues you are having so here is what I found online.
https://www.macrumors.com/2020/11/22/fix-install-error-m1-mac/
Some users report getting an error message when trying to reinstall the OS
before upgrading to Big Sur.
I saw a forum post indicating that the restore process does not work and that
users should use Apple Configurator.
https://support.apple.com/guide/apple-configurator-2/revive-or-restore-a-mac-with-apple-silicon-apdd5f3c75ad/mac
Apparently, you will have to use two macs connected via USBC.
Hope this helps.

Subject: help reinstalling Mac OS

Hi again, all,

So it appears that I have erased the disc, but when I go to reinstall Big Sur,
and get an error message saying no users available for Authorization. What do I
do?
TIA,
Donna
