What's interesting about the relocated aliases folder is that, on my
machine, it's full of empty folders. I removed the whole mess. Not that
it was a strain on my disk or anything, LOL, but totally unnecessary
since it was empty. It must be automatically created by some update in
case some other part of said update wants to put something in there.

Thanks, Tim. Didn’t seem to be anything significant, so I just deleted
it.

Hi,
I’m not sure what happened to cause the “Donna’s MacBook Air” folder
to be created, but the Relocated Items is a common item after
updates. If you VO-space on the Relocated Items item, you’ll be
taken to a location where you can learn about the reason for that
alias being placed on your Desktop. It has something to do with
files being removed and relocated due to incompatibilities with that
update.
Later…

Hi all,
During my update to the most recent version of Big Sur I lost VO
access. When my Mac “came to”, I had a folder on my desktop called
Donna’s MacBook Air, that basically contained the stuff from my
desktop, pluss a relocated items folder. I have no idea why this
folder was created, but I’m inclined to delete it. Is there any
reason I shouldn’t? Any other pitfalls I should no about regarding
this upgrade?
TIA,
Donna
