Hi,

Yes, .mov and .mp4 are both fine for completed projects. Both are readable by
QuickTime and both are upload able to YouTube. In normal circumstances, Those
do sound like completed projects, so moving them to the external should be
fine. There may still be project components left within your iMovie library,
but they will not affect the end product that you’ve created. These are left
in iMovie in case you wish to redo anything. They are good to be deleted if
you don’t think that you’ll ever need those original clips. yes, you should be
able to do the cmd-c then cmd-option-v the .mov and .mp4 files over to the
external. Try it with a not-important file first though as I have seen things
fails on occasion when using the move across volumes. This was long in the
past, so it may be totally fine now, but it’s always good to test on a nothing
file. If you wish to test it on one of your movies, just duplicate one of them
and cmd-c/cmd-option-v the duplicate. If it goes across fine, then you’re good
to go. In case you’re not familiar with the duplicate command, just navigate
to the item you wish to duplicate, then press cmd-d. It will make a copy of
the original file with the word “Copy” added to the end.

HTH.

Later…
