Hi, Yes, there certainly are limitations on what will play the Dolby Atmos and/or Spacial Audio.
I have the AirPod Pro which will do spacial audio in supported movies and TV shows when playing from iPhone. My surround sound system does support Dolby Atmos, but I only have the Apple TV HD at the moment, not the 4K version, so Dolby Atmos is not passed to the system. I’ll look at updating my Apple TV in the Fall and then we’ll see how things sound :).
