Hi, I suggest you go into the Activity Monitor and see if there’s a process eating up all your resources. There’s no good reason why that should be happening. The M1 Mac manages memory very efficiently so there has to be something running in the background causing the problem. Either that, or you have a dud. To find the Activity Monitor, go to your Desktop, then press cmd-shift-u to open the Utilities folder, then locate the Activity Monitor application and open it.
